Engenuity
The future is knocking at the door. The digital forces are poised to
be our maintenance staff, our security force, and our invisible
facilities manager. Are you ready? Maine native Tracy Markie is.
Thanks to zippy Internet connections, shrinking components and a
proliferation of gadgets all speaking the same digital language, office
automation is about to take another leap.
Already, many of us have a small piece of the action: restroom lights
that turn on when we step near the doorway; key chains that send
signals through walls and trees to start our vehicles from the comfort
of our offices. Such conveniences, says Tracy Markie, president of
Engenuity Systems, Inc. in Arizona, are only the beginning.
